| There's a New Sheriff in Town! | ||||||||||||||||||||||
The Web Warden™ is used primarily by teachers and administrators to access individual student accounts for the purpose of disabling access to account, internet and printer usage. Clicking on the Web Warden™ icon will open a log in screen. The teacher will log in using the designated user name and password. The view the teacher will see is a list of his/her courses as well as student class lists as seen below. The current class list view will correlate to the course which is highlighted from the course list. Student names will be accompanied by icons which indicate the account access currently available to that student. In this example Ms. Smith shows Tristan from her 2nd period English class logged into her account. The class and Tristan's name are highlighted in green and a small computer icon next to Tristan's name shows she is logged on.
At the bottom of the screen is a check box system which allows the teacher to enable or disable any or all functions of the Web Warden™ . This includes access to the student account, printing and internet use. The accounts may be locked by the teacher for periods of time ranging from 15 min to 2 hours either individually or as a group. The teacher may also lock access during an active session with the click of a button in the event that a student is using their account inappropriately. If the account is locked during an active session this will immediately disable access to any or all available functions. The Web Warden™ will take a “snap shot” of the screen at the time the account is locked. In the event that the computer is shut down after it is locked by the teacher the last site visited can still be identified.
